Garden Writer, Lecturer & Tourist

What is Cheval's 2nd Act?
I retired and thought -- What is my second act?
   I knew at once-- Gardens!
Visiting gardens must be in my blood
My mother herded her five kids to gardens everywhere we lived. Since our father was in the Air Force, we lived all over the United States, from California, New Hampshire to Florida and lots of stops in-between.

When my IBM career allowed me to travel the world I always made time to visit gardens.

Lectures like those for RoadScholar  allow me to share the views, mansions, plants and walkways of our most well know gardens and share the history and folk-lore of these great spaces.

I have spoken at local garden clubs, Home and Garden Shows, DC Historical Society and many other groups.

Writing the Garden Day-Trip column for Washington Gardener Magazine is a great excuse to visit the over 100 public gardens in the region and enjoy the thousands of private gardens.

Tourist travel gives me the joy of visiting gardens all over the world, at my own pace.
